Holy HAL! A robot stole my job
Wed Jan 23, 2013
While the jobs are going in theory at least the products also get cheeper. Allowing us to buy things at lower cost. Thus in theory eventually we will all have a higher standard of living with less work at all. Potentially a work force that's completly automated will make the concept of working for a …
Colorado sheriff blasts colleagues over refusal to enforce gun laws
Wed Jan 23, 2013
I get where these sheriffs are coming from. If they believe this strongly then they absolutely should do what they think is right. But they better be prepared to loose their jobs and even face charges. If they won't enforce the law then we just have to find people who will.
Sir David Attenborough calls humans 'a plague on the Earth'
Tue Jan 22, 2013
@rdonham Nobody in this article and few on this comment board are talking global climate change. That's not the problem. The problem is straight up population vs drinkable watter. You dig? More mouths than watter equals war and death. It's simple and not arguable.
Deep Space Industries' lofty asteroid ambitions face high financial hurdles
Tue Jan 22, 2013
These DSI cat's are brave men. Everything starts with someone who's ahead of the curve and ahead of their times. But I'm sure there are tones of people out there with big dreams that never make it. Good luck guys, I hope your more successful then it looks like you are going to be.
Bioethicist: Here's why creating a Neanderthal clone is such a bad idea
Tue Jan 22, 2013
I understand how it could be terrible to create hundreds of deformed fetus' and babies in the quest for making a working neanderthal but most of the rest seems kind of rubbish. Why wouldn't the surrogate mother love her child? What ever leads you to believe that it would have some sort of nightmare …
What astronomers expect first photos of black hole to look like
Tue Jan 22, 2013
Interesting. As everyone has said you can't see or image a black hole directly. I mean even if there was something to see the object itself would be almost infinitely small right? Seeing it's radiation is another thing all together. I wonder if there is a stupidly dense material somewhere at the cor …
Help wanted: 'Adventurous' woman to give birth to ... a Neanderthal baby?
Mon Jan 21, 2013
I just want to say that I don't worship nature and no modern human really should. Our lives and our environment are not run by nature. Men took charge of all of it. This is just taking charge of a bit more. There's no plan of nature that we are following now and no law of nature that we are defying …
Deep Space Industries will venture into asteroid-mining marketplace
Mon Jan 21, 2013
Wow. I wonder if we really have the tech to find valuable asteroids out there and the tow them back to earth to be exploited. Or are they just trying to predict when that tech will be viable and thus get things rolling now to profit at that future time.
First Thoughts: Obama's second term begins
Mon Jan 21, 2013
One thing I don't get about the worst president EVAR thing is... have you actually looked at all the rest of them? Do you know what they did and what they didn't do? I'm not into history in a strong way so I could never say this or that president was the worst ever. Just which ones I like and which …
Giant Mars crater shows evidence of ancient lake
Sun Jan 20, 2013
Am I the only one who's kinda freaked out by the possibility of underground Martian monsters eating our first spelunking explorer's? Someone should make a horror movie out of that! ;)
